This is the image for the news article titled October Board Recognition - Brody SteinhoffAt the October 16 Board of Education meeting, members recognized Orchard Farm Elementary kindergarten student Brody Steinhoff for his personal achievements inside and outside of the classroom.

His teacher Kristina Simmons shared the following description of Brody with the Board.

"Brody is a quiet, humble student who is often seen by myself and others doing the right thing even when he thinks no one is watching.  He often helps a peer with anxiety to take deep breaths and calm down when that student is in the midst of an anxiety attack while sitting on the classroom carpet.  Brody often helps clean up trash left on the floor without being asked. At recess, he can be found playing basketball with another student who has a physical disability.  His compassion and inclusive nature are remarkable. He cheers for others who achieve their academic and behavioral goals. While he has been cheering on others, Brody recently competed in the National Pedal Pull Competition in South Dakota.  He finished in the top 10 out of 24 competitors in the 5-year-old age group. While most kids would have returned to school elated and telling every one of the achievement, Brody returned humbly and never drew attention to himself. It wasn’t until I shared with the class what he had achieved, that Brody finally spoke about the competition with his peers.  As they cheered for him, he simply grinned. Brody Steinhoff has not only represented the state of MO in a national competition, but he has represented all that a leader in his school and community should strive to become."

Each month the Board of Education recognize students recommended by one of the OFSD schools for personal and academic accomplishments.
