After a community engagement process, the Orchard Farm School District determined that securing property to enable continued growth was a priority to parents, teachers and community members. The district is pleased to announce that it has secured 106 acres of land for future growth and enhancement of facilities.

After the district was unsuccessful in convincing landowners surrounding the main campus to sell the necessary acreage for expansion, alternative locations were investigated. The school district has entered into a contract with the Ostmann Family Trust to purchase 97 acres located west of the intersection of Highway B and Highway 94. The negotiated purchase is $35,000 per acre. This property will enable the district to have the needed room to address future growth.

The district is also purchasing eight acres from the Paul and David Wilke estate located south of the railroad crossing on Highway 94. The negotiated purchase price is $20,000 per acre. This property will house a new transportation building and bus parking.

“This land acquisition will enable us to continue our commitment to the community and its families to be future ready and provide an environment that ensures every student is empowered to learn,” said Dr. Tom Muzzey, Orchard Farm School District Superintendent.

Proceeds from Proposition R will be used to fund the purchase. Voters overwhelmingly approved Prop R in the April election by a vote of 87% to 13% to Repair, Restore and Renew.
